We're excited to host Crate Diggers & Discogs for an all day event at the shop celebrating vinyl culture and community!
Opening up 606 Sessions is Alejandro Ayala aka King Hippo; host of Q.C. on 105.5FM WLPN Lumpen Radio, curator of Fresh Roasted: Live Beat-Making and Battle and event coordinator for venues as far north as Sleeping Village in Avondale to Co-Prosperity Sphere in Bridgeport. Some have referred to him as Chicago's Gilles Peterson given his wealth of knowledge in the music scene, not to mention his knack for copping that first press on vinyl.
A Chicago resident since 2001, Constance K became host of the Cutz On Cuts family after what started as a devoted love of dancing and appreciating music. As a member of the famed Boog E. Munsters crew, she's produced music with Beyond Luck, Lights Out and has been featured on numerous projects with DJ Moppy (including the 1st release on the 606 Records label titled The Seven Wonders Of The Sea).
Ashina Hamilton is one of Chicago's most talented producers and DJ's you may not have heard of. She's released 3 incredible EP's on her Sovereign State imprint (all solo work we should add) under the guise of Miki Miyoshi. She's an equally skilled DJ across all genres with a global reach in the underground community.
Tim Zawada (in partnership with Ben Van Dyke on the Left Coast) runs Chicago's leading label for boogie and modern funk: Star Creature Universal Vibrations. Check any one of his releases on Discogs under the parent label Tugboat Motion Co. and you'll see the high demand. As founder of the Boog E. Munsters crew, TZ hosts his Star Creature Vibes radio show weekly on Lumpen Radio, plus numerous parties around the globe.
Jesse De La Pena
A veteran DJ from Chicago, Jesse is co-founder of Grammy nominated Acid Jazz band Liquid Soul. He's also Vocalo Radio's music curator & host/producer of the Friday night DJ Series (heard weekly on Vocalo 91.1FM & 89.5FM) streaming globally www.vocalo.org.
Born and raised in LA, Alejandro aka Leja Hazer moved to Chicago roughly 5 years ago and is already turning heads with his passion for music. He's employed by historic Gramaphone Records on the north side and runs his own prestigious Hesperian Sound Division record label (all in his early 20's).
Closing out 606 Sessions is Chicagoan Tone B Nimble, the man behind prominent record label Al-Tone Edits with label mate Al Delk. Tone has a deep history with the city having been a house DJ as far back as the 80's, a staple on the radio in the 90's, his run with All Natural, Inc., to his untouchable collection of rare gospel disco on vinyl.
